Whiplash is an injury to the cervical spine and/or the surrounding soft tissue structures, occurring as a result of a motor vehicle collision. Whiplash injury is commonly associated with rear-impact vehicle collisions where the occupants neck, in the vehicle being struck, is subject to rapid extension and then flexion.
